Sharp Rise in Sindh Road Accidents 2025 - Carr.pk

As 2025 nears its end, road safety in Sindh continues to deteriorate, with Karachi alone recording hundreds of traffic-related deaths this year due to heavy vehicles, overspeeding, and poor infrastructure.

The latest statistics released by the Sindh Police regarding road accidents in 2024 and 2025 are nothing short of a public safety emergency. With a staggering 41.2% overall increase in reported fatal accidents, the province is witnessing a deadly trend that demands immediate analysis and action.

Why the Sudden Surge?

The spike in fatal and non-fatal incidents suggests a systemic failure rather than isolated events. Several factors are likely fueling this crisis:

  • Deteriorating infrastructure in Sindh, including massive manholes, a lack of streetlights, and missing signage.
  • Reckless driving and heavy traffic, including that of motorcycles, fast-moving cars, and heavy vehicles.
  • A lack of consistent traffic law enforcement encourages violations like one-way driving and signal jumping

What Must Be Done?

To reverse these alarming statistics, the Sindh government must move beyond statements and take concrete action.

This includes stricter penalties for traffic violations, improved road infrastructure, and a robust driving license system.

The recent implementation of the e-challan system and the inauguration of a helpline by the Sindh police are positive steps, and there is hope that more measures will follow to make Sindh’s roads safer.
