Sindh Govt Sets Deadline for BRT Red Line Project - Carr.pk

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced on Tuesday that the BRT Red Line project must be completed by June 2026, reaffirming the government’s commitment to enhancing Karachi’s transport infrastructure.

Speaking at a Sindh Cabinet session, the chief minister reviewed and approved costs for major transport projects under the Karachi Mobility Project.

The cabinet increased the Yellow Line BRT project’s cost to USD 620 million, with USD 155 million funded by the World Bank and USD 18 million arranged by the Sindh government. CM Shah directed that the 21-kilometer Yellow Line BRT be completed by December 2028.

The chief minister also ordered the immediate start of road construction across Karachi, highlighting the government’s focus on improving city mobility.

In other key decisions, the Sindh Cabinet approved handing over the 36-kilometer Dumlottee-DHA water pipeline project to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) for execution.

Additionally, Rs 300 million was sanctioned for procurement of land from PTCL for the Malir Depot, further supporting transport and urban development initiatives.
