Sindh’s Vehicle Theft Crisis: 20,000 Vehicles Stolen or Snatched This Year
The Sindh Police released their 2025 Annual Crime Statistics report last month, and the numbers tell a worrying story. Road-related crimes increased across the province this year by 14.21% YoY (year-over-year).
The total number of reported cases went from 17,534 in 2024 to 20,025 this year. This means nearly 2,500 more people lost their vehicles to criminals compared to last year.
Here is the breakdown of the road-related cases registered in 2025 with comparison to 2024 :
| Case Type | 2024 | 2025 | Change |
| Car Theft | 1,202 | 1,428 | 18.80% |

Broken down by category, motorcycle theft remains the most pervasive issue, accounting for over 62% of all reported road crimes. The number of stolen motorcycles rose from 10,739 to 12,519, an increase of 16.58%. But the stealth over gunpoint snatching is increasing.

Shaheed Benazirabad and Larkana Ranges
Conversely, the Shaheed Benazirabad (SBA) is the only area to report a positive trend, with the Larkana Range recording the least increase: road crimes declined by 7.23% to 590 cases in the Shaheed Benazirabad range, and only 4.11% in the Larkana range.

| Total | 511 | 532 | 4.11% | 636 | 590 | -7.23% |
Lastly, most concerning is that road crime rates in Sindh have not decreased. Furthermore, these numbers likely underrepresent the reality, as they only account for filed FIRs.
