Stellantis Forecasts 11% Drop in French Car Production by 2028 - Carr.pk

Stellantis French production drop is expected as the company plans to reduce output at its five assembly factories in France over the next three years.

Trade union estimates, based on company presentations, suggest production could fall by 11% between 2025 and 2028.

The Financial Times reported that the company’s total vehicle production in France could drop below 590,000 units by 2028, with the Poissy plant likely to see the biggest decline. Stellantis had earlier temporarily halted production at Poissy due to weak demand in Europe.

Despite reporting a 13% increase in third-quarter revenue, Stellantis flagged one-off costs linked to changes in its strategic and product plans under new CEO Antonio Filosa. Filosa is expected to reveal his updated business plan next year, which includes bringing back models like the Jeep Cherokee SUV and focusing on hybrid and petrol vehicles.

The move reflects broader challenges in the European auto industry, as manufacturers adjust to shifting consumer demand and regulatory pressures. Stellantis’ French factories are preparing for lower production volumes while aiming to align with new market strategies.
