Major Progress Expected as KP Reviews Key Motorway Projects
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi chaired a high-level meeting to review progress on key *road sector flagship projects, including *Swat Motorway Phase II, DI Khan Motorway, and Dir Motorway.
During the meeting, the chief minister directed authorities to start construction work on Swat Motorway Phase II at the earliest, calling it a flagship project of the provincial government. He instructed officials to immediately resolve all technical and administrative issues to avoid further delays.
The 80-kilometer-long Swat Motorway Phase II will be constructed from *Chakdara to Fateh Pur. The project includes *nine interchanges and seven bridges over the Swat River, aimed at improving regional connectivity and boosting economic activity in the area.
The chief minister also indicated that the Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway would be formally inaugurated soon. The 365-kilometer-long motorway will feature 19 interchanges and two tunnels, significantly enhancing north-south road connectivity in the province.

Additionally, the meeting decided in principle that the Dir Motorway will be constructed entirely through provincial resources, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure development.
The provincial government said these motorway projects will play a vital role in improving transport, trade, and tourism across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
