Tesla to End Model S and Model X Production in 2026 - Carr.pk

Tesla announced it will stop producing its Model S sedan and Model X SUV in 2026 to repurpose its Fremont, California factory for building Optimus humanoid robots.

CEO Elon Musk made the announcement during Tesla’s latest earnings call, describing the move as a step toward the company’s future focus on robotics, AI, and autonomy.

Production of the Model S, introduced in 2012, and the Model X, launched in 2015, will end by the second quarter of 2026. These flagship vehicles were once central to Tesla’s rise in the electric vehicle market, but sales have declined as buyers increasingly opt for the more affordable Model 3 and Model Y.

The factory transformation aims to produce up to one million Optimus robots per year, signaling Tesla’s strategic shift toward automation and artificial intelligence. Tesla has assured that it will continue to support existing Model S and Model X owners even after production ceases.
