Toyota Fortuner Price Trend Over the Last 8 Years
Last week, we witnessed a historic announcement from Toyota Pakistan. In a move that surprised the entire market, the company slashed the prices of its petrol Fortuner variants — the G and V, not by a few thousand or even a few lacs, but by up to Rs. 25 lacs as part of its 35th Anniversary celebrations in the country.
New Fortuner Prices in Pakistan
Petrol variants:
| Variant | Previous Price | Special Price | Savings |
| Fortuner G | PKR 14,939,000 | PKR 12,435,000 | PKR 2,504,000 |
| Fortuner V | PKR 17,509,000 | PKR 14,935,000 | PKR 2,574,000 |
These cuts are huge, but that’s not the main point of this blog.
We wanted to see how far Fortuner prices have come in Pakistan over the last 8 years. We managed to gather Fortuner V prices from 2018 onwards, and the story a single variant tells is one of a kind.
2018
Price: PKR 6,399,000
In 2018, the Fortuner V was priced at around Rs. 6.4 million.
If you compare that to today, you won’t even get a clean used Fortuner at this price anymore. That’s how much this SUV has gone up in value.
A decent 2018 Fortuner V in today’s used market can easily touch 95–100 lacs, depending on condition and mileage. So in 8 years, the same model that was brand new at 64 lacs is now a used car around one crore. That’s Pakistan for you.
2019
Price: PKR 7,999,000
In 2019, the price increased by Rs. 1.6 million.
This was the time when the dollar was appreciating, and the rupee was sliding, so Toyota (and other companies) started revising prices again and again. When new car prices go up, used cars also go up, and that’s how cars in Pakistan started behaving like “assets” instead of depreciating items.
2020
Price: PKR 8,399,000
In 2020, the Fortuner V’s price went up by another Rs. 400,000.
This was the COVID-19 period. Pakistan’s economy was under pressure, supply chains were disrupted, and the currency kept weakening. As usual, the auto sector reacted with more price hikes. Even as people worried about jobs and businesses, car prices kept climbing.
2021
Price: PKR 9,399,000
In 2021, the Fortuner V price jumped by Rs. 1 million.
The economy was trying to recover from Covid, but inflation, high costs, and currency issues persisted. Many cars saw noticeable price jumps in this period, and the Fortuner was no exception. By now, the V variant was already above 9.3 million, and the days of a “budget” Fortuner were officially over.
2022
Price: PKR 13,259,000
Then came 2022, and that’s when things went crazy.
The price shot up from 9,399,000 to 13,259,000 – an increase of around Rs. 3.8 million in a single year.
This was the time when Pakistan’s economy faced a severe crisis, the rupee crashed, and the country was on the brink of default. Import restrictions, higher duties, and an unstable currency meant car prices went through the roof. Fortuner moved firmly into “crore-plus” territory.
2023
Price: PKR 16,999,000
In 2023, the Fortuner V price jumped again, this time by about Rs. 3.7 million due to consistent low devaluation of PKR against USD, touching Rs. 16.999 million.
By now:
- Fortuner V had become more than 2.5 times its 2018 price.
- Only a small segment of buyers could realistically afford a new one.
- For many people, buying a Fortuner meant arranging funds in crores, not lacs.
This was the peak “cars as investment” era in Pakistan – people who bought a few years earlier were seeing crazy paper gains on their vehicles.
2024
Price: PKR 16,999,000 (No Change)
According to the data, 2024 saw no change in the official ex-factory price of the Fortuner V; it remained at Rs. 16.999 million.
However, that doesn’t mean it became “cheap”:
- Overall inflation was still high.
- On-road cost (registration, taxes, etc.) remained heavy.
- Bank financing was expensive due to high interest rates.
So even with a stable ex-factory price, bringing a Fortuner home in 2024 was still a very expensive decision.
2025
Price Before Offer: PKR 17,509,000
Special Price: PKR 14,935,000
In early 2025, the Fortuner V price crept up again from 16,999,000 to 17,509,000, an increase of about Rs. 510,000. It felt like the same old story: another year, another hike.
But then, out of nowhere, Toyota dropped the bombshell:
- New special price of Fortuner V: Rs. 14,935,000
- That’s a reduction of Rs. 2,574,000 compared to the previous price.
For the first time in 8 years, we saw a proper, significant price cut rather than another increase. This is why Toyota’s 35th Anniversary offer is being called “historic” – especially in a country where prices usually only move in one direction: up.
