Announced last June, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has finally made its in-game debut in Gran Turismo 7, as part of Update 1.67 that was pushed out yesterday. The über electric sedan has made Gran Turismo history as the first Chinese car in the series, beating the Yangwang U9 Xtreme.

It’s safe to say that series creator Kazunori Yamauchi is a big fan – according to Xiaomi, he has driven the car in Beijing, the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Tsukuba Circuit, as well as engaging with Xiaomi EV’s executives and engineering teams.

To ensure that the car is faithfully recreated in the virtual world, Xiaomi and developer Polyphony Digital collaborated to create a highly precise digital vehicle model, and Xiaomi’s vehicle dynamics performance team travelled to PD’s headquarters in Fukuoka for a final driving experience validation.
