Bid for Exclusive Plates: Punjab’s December E-Auction is Live

The government of Punjab has opened registration for its online auction of premium “fancy” number plates for December, giving vehicle owners across the province the opportunity to bid for exclusive vanity registration numbers.

The auction will be held on a digital platform managed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), allowing participants to place bids through the PITB e-Auction mobile app or the official online portal.

Under the program, license plate allocations will be available for motorcycles, private cars, and commercial vehicles, each with its own dedicated auction category. Bidders can choose from a range of premium options, including gold, platinum, or customized combinations, with coveted formats such as “single-digit” and repeated-number plates.

Registration for the auction will remain open until January 30. Once registered, participants can place bids online, monitor real-time bid activity, and check the “successful bidders” list, all without the need to visit a physical Excise office.

According to the PITB, the shift to a fully digital auction process aims to make number plate allocation more transparent, efficient, and user-friendly. This move eliminates long queues and manual paperwork, ensuring fair and easy access to “fancy” plates for vehicle owners across the province.
