Islamabad Introduces New Rules for Ride-Hailing Companies - Carr.pk

Islamabad authorities have announced a new digital registration system for all ride-hailing services in the capital, including major companies such as Careem, Uber, and Bykea.

Drivers of taxis and motorcycles must now record passengers’ national identity card (NIC) numbers in their apps before starting a trip.

The move comes after a deadly mosque bombing in Tarlai on February 6, 2026, which killed at least 32 people.

All ride-hailing companies will undergo formal registration, with driver and vehicle data collected digitally and accessible to Islamabad Police. Unregistered vehicles and trips without NIC uploads will face strict penalties.
