Automated Patrolling Cars to Issue No-Parking E-Challans in Karachi - Carr.pk

Karachi — With regards to addressing traffic violations in Karachi, the e-challan system was just the beginning. According to Geo News, the Karachi police have developed vehicles that come with automated cameras to issue fines and penalties for no-parking violations in the city’s busiest commercial centres.

According to a statement issued by the Traffic Admin Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kashif Nadeem to Geo News, the department has finished preparations for the new system, under which the advanced vehicles will begin patrolling. As part of the first phase, the cars will initially be deployed in the markets of Saddar and Tariq Road.

He added that the cars will move at 20 km/h and will continuously scan roads. If any vehicle or motorcycle is found double-parked or in no-parking zones during the patrol, an e-challan will automatically be issued to the owner. These robot camera cars, operated by a driver, will eliminate the need for on-the-ground police intervention.

The DSP also explained that the Karachi Traffic Police had already been issuing no-parking e-challans to violators through Safe City cameras.
