Lahore and Major Cities to Get Smart Vehicles for Driving Tests
Punjab Traffic Authorities are taking a major step to curb corruption in driving license issuance by introducing AI cars for driving test. The decision comes after repeated complaints about favoritism and unqualified candidates obtaining licenses.
The Traffic Headquarters has sent a summary to the government to approve the purchase of 32 AI-powered vehicles. Officials said the procurement will be completed by December. Each car will be equipped with advanced sensors, cameras, and processors to ensure accurate testing.
Two vehicles have already been prepared for experimental testing, which officials say was successful. Initially, the cars will be deployed in Lahore and other major cities. The total cost for 32 vehicles will exceed 16 crore rupees, with an average of 6 lakh rupees spent on installing equipment in each car.
