No Mercy for Polluters: Punjab Police Impounds Vehicles, Registers Hundreds of Cases - Carr.pk

The Government of Punjab has posted on social media the latest statistics and data regarding the ongoing crackdown against activities contributing to smog in the province. In the past 24 hours, the Punjab Police continued their action against smoke-emitting vehicles and crop residue burning, sharing details of violations registered and fines imposed across the state.

These efforts have led to significant actions, including arrests, fines, and ongoing operations to strengthen further law enforcement measures to combat air pollution.

According to the data, 15 new cases were filed in the past 24 hours, and numerous violators were arrested. A total of 483 individuals were fined, amounting to Rs. 10 lakh 13 thousand in penalties. 

In addition, 43 people received warnings for violating smog-related regulations. Eight brick factories, 3 industrial facilities, and 280 excessively polluting vehicles were also fined.

Since the launch of the anti-smog initiative by the Punjab Government, a total of 2,911 complaints have been filed, leading to the arrest of 2,587 violators. The Punjab Government has imposed fines on 1,777 individuals for crop burning, 2,226 brick kilns for smog violations, 3 industrial sites, and 59,053 vehicles for excessive smoke emissions. 

These actions have resulted in a total fine of Rs. 23 crore 21 lakh. In addition, 97,924 individuals have been fined, and 13,689 warnings have been issued to offenders.
