Overseas Pakistanis can now transfer vehicles via Pak ID App

Overseas Pakistanis will now find it much easier to buy and transfer vehicles in Pakistan. The government has decided that the process will be possible through the Pak ID App using biometric verification.

Following successful launches in Islamabad and Sindh, the Punjab government has also moved to introduce the system. The DG Excise confirmed that NADRA has been re-engaged for system integration so that overseas Pakistanis in Punjab can soon access this facility.

Through the new system, users can enter a vehicle’s registration number, chassis number, and owner’s name in the Pak ID App to complete biometric verification. Previously, overseas Pakistanis had to obtain an authority letter certified by the Pakistani embassy abroad and send it to Pakistan—a long and complicated process.

Officials say the Pak ID App integration will help eliminate fraudulent registrations and illegal vehicle transfers under overseas Pakistanis’ names. Currently, thousands of vehicles are running on open letters due to delays in biometric verification.

Authorities added that the process between Excise and NADRA has already been finalized, and integrating both systems will allow biometric verification to be implemented soon, providing significant relief for overseas Pakistanis.
