Peshawar Northern Bypass Advances with New Funds
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved Rs. 3.9 billion in bridge financing to complete this vital road project by June 2026, easing congestion and sparking economic growth.
This funding includes Rs. 1 billion from the provincial government for two underpasses and a bridge, addressing long-standing delays from federal shortfalls.
Launched in 2010, the bypass has seen Rs. 23.5 billion spent so far, with overall financial progress at 85.6%.
Packages show strong headway: Package I is fully done, Package II is at 64%, Package III is at 86.6%, and Package III-A is at 69%.
Chief Minister KPK Muhammad Sohail Afridi chaired the key meeting, directing swift, high-quality completion.

Project Details and Timeline
According to the reports, officials from the National Highway Authority (NHA) briefed on the project’s status, promising full operation by mid-2026.
This 32-kilometer route will divert heavy traffic from Peshawar’s core, reducing travel times for commuters and truckers alike.
