Punjab EPA Seizes Smoke-Emitting University Buses in Lahore - Carr.pk

The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has banned several Punjab University buses after inspections revealed excessive smoke emissions in Lahore. The move is part of a broader effort to control vehicular pollution in the city.

EPA teams stopped multiple buses on Canal Road and found them releasing thick smoke. Officials discovered that these buses did not have the required environmental fitness certificates.

The agency seized the vehicles immediately and started legal proceedings under the Environmental Protection Act.

This crackdown targets poorly maintained vehicles operated by universities, colleges, schools, and hospitals. Aging buses and heavy vehicles have been identified as major contributors to Lahore’s smog problem.

The provincial government has intensified monitoring across Punjab to prevent unfit vehicles from operating on public roads.
