Quetta Smuggling Crackdown: Rs121M in Goods and 9 Vehicles Seized - Carr.pk

Pakistan Customs officials in Quetta intercepted and seized nine non-custom-paid (NCP) vehicles during a targeted anti-smuggling operation in the Rakhni area. The action, based on credible intelligence, was carried out with the support of the Frontier Corps (FC) North and Loralai Police. All vehicles and associated contraband have been taken into custody as reported by Profit Pakistan.

Authorities also confiscated smuggled goods valued at approximately Rs 121.6 million, including foreign-brand cigarettes, gutka, Chinese salt, and betel nuts. This seizure highlights ongoing challenges in curbing illegal imports that undercut legitimate markets.

Legal Action Under the Customs Act 1969

Officials confirmed that Blegal proceedings have been launched under the Customs Act of 1969 against the seized vehicles and goods. Investigations remain active as enforcement intensifies. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reiterated its commitment to strict measures against smuggling, illegal trade, and the movement of unduty-paid vehicles, framing this operation as part of broader efforts to safeguard national revenue.

What This Means for Auto Markets and Enforcement

If you are tracking vehicle legality and import enforcement, this seizure underscores the risks associated with NCP vehicles in Pakistan. Unlike correctly custom-cleared imports, which are often documented on PakWheels’ vehicle valuation and used car listings pages, NCP vehicles pose legal and financial liabilities for buyers. Prospective buyers should verify customs duty status and documentation before purchase.
