Train Crash in Sargodha Kills Two Police Officers, Injures Three
In a tragic incident on Monday, two police officers were killed, and three others critically injured when their police vehicle was struck by a train at an unmanned railway crossing in Sargodha, Punjab.
The collision occurred when the police van, part of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), attempted to cross the tracks and was hit by the Millat Express, as reported by DAWN.
Officials confirmed that two Constables lost their lives in the collision. 2 Head Constables and driver were injured, with one officer reported to be in critical condition. Rescue teams, along with senior police officers, including the local Station House Officers (SHOs), rushed to the scene immediately.
Punjab’s Inspector General of Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has ordered a detailed investigation into the tragedy. Legal action will follow based on the findings.
Pakistan Railways operates thousands of level crossings across the country, many of which are unmanned, a known factor contributing to accidents like this one.
