Transport Department Hikes T-Cash Card Prices Across Punjab
The price of the T-Cash card for the mass transit system has increased.
The Transport Department has doubled the rate of T-Cash cards used for traveling in the mass transit system, adding an additional delivery fee of PKR 130 on a PKR 130 card.
Passengers themselves have to bear the PKR 130 delivery charges, which will affect daily commuters across Lahore and the rest of Punjab. The burden of delivery charges has been shifted onto the public.
The T-Cash card was introduced to provide a convenient and cashless mode of payment for commuters using buses and metro services. It allows passengers to recharge their cards and avoid long queues at ticket counters, ensuring smoother travel during peak hours.
However, with the sudden doubling of the card price and extra delivery charges, many regular commuters are expected to face financial strain. Daily passengers who rely on mass transit for work, education, or other essential travel may find the increase burdensome.

Public concern is growing over the lack of prior notice and justification for the sudden hike. Many argue that such decisions should consider the economic pressures on ordinary citizens, especially in Punjab where daily commuting forms a crucial part of people’s routine lives.
