Unfit Buses Now Prohibited on Punjab Roads, Says EPA
The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched a strict crackdown on smoke-emitting heavy vehicles as part of its intensified anti-smog campaign.
The agency has warned that old and unfit buses operated by schools, colleges, and hospitals will no longer be allowed on the roads.
Officials said enforcement teams will immediately issue fines to any heavy vehicle found releasing excessive smoke. Authorities may also impound vehicles on the spot to stop further violations.
Director General Environment Punjab, Imran Hameed Sheikh, instructed institutions to urgently inspect the buses and transport vehicles they use for students and staff.
He emphasized that faulty vehicles must be repaired or replaced without delay, and institutions are responsible for ensuring their fleets meet environmental and safety standards.
